Weekly Afternoon Courses, 2nd, 9th, 16th 23rd March 2pm - 4pm

Join us for a virtual weekly art class, meet new people locally, and find joy in something wonderfully creative just for you.

Over four consecutive sessions on Zoom, artist Elaine Winter will guide you through a range of drawing exercises and strategies. To create fun and explorative art reflecting on different themes such as your experiences during the pandemic. Please pull together whatever art equipment you may have, eg. A range of HB pencils, water soluble pencil, Fineliner drawing pen(s), soft eraser, pencil sharpener, small blending stick, conte sticks in black/white and siena, charcoal pencil, A4 white drawing paper and A4 mid tone (grey/coloured) will all be beneficial. All ages, levels of ability, and experience are welcome. As the sessions will be inclusive and an informal way to be socially engaged in art making.

Elaine is a Newark based printmaker and mixed media artist, she is an associate Artist at both Nottingham Lakeside Arts and New Art Exchange. Elaine is a specialist in working with groups in participatory arts practice. Including nursery children, all ages of school children in both mainstream and special schools, refugee groups, adults with learning and other disabilities, people living with dementia and those receiving hospice therapies. Elaine says’ “I believe that experiencing and making art is good for us on many levels. It is a privilege to work with people of all ages and see the positive impact engaging with the visual arts has on them”.

  • Participants in The AcornProject’s Art Social will be sent a pack of art supplies that will provide allthey need for participation in all four sessions. The sessions themselves arefree; the cost of the packs is £20, including distribution and we ask thosethat are able to, to pay this cost for their packs.

    We acknowledge that people arecurrently experiencing unexpected financial pressures due to the currentsituation and so, supported by Arts Council England’s Cultural Recovery Fund,we have a small number of packs available at a discounted rate of £10 andanother small number available for free so that nobody is excluded fromparticipating.
